EX1806 – Dive 04, Blake Escarpment South

Cresting the ledge of the terrace wall’s vertical scarp, light sedimentation was observed on flat layers of hard sedimentary rock substrate. Much of the rocky substrate is buried in a thin veneer of sediments. A large bamboo coral (foreground, left) and sponge (white organism, right of center in the back) are examples of the large individuals found at the scarp’s top. [Laser beams are 10 cm apart.]
